Through the Barbed Wire: A Prisoner of War's Story
Under a 3 month deadline, I created a demo / prototype to showcase games' use in historical research as a part of my Masters Dissertation at Cardiff University. Focusing on the story of POWs in America during the Second World War, I solely developed the game utilizing historical research to inform the narrative and gameplay design. Utilizing the game engine Twine, I created a narrative driven experience that takes you through the experiences of a German POW. While playing through the game the focus was to allow the player to learn through the gameplay itself as well as have numerous avenues to explore deeper into various aspects of the history itself.
